A bottle count answers how many capsules are in the container. A facts serving answers the basis on which the label reports amounts. A daily schedule answers a different question again. Mixing these three makes a product look stronger, cheaper or longer-lasting without changing anything inside the bottle.
This guide uses the public records checked September 26, 2026 to explain the arithmetic. Calculated amounts are label comparisons, not recommended doses. The examples do not account for a person’s medicines, swallowing ability, symptoms or clinical advice.
Choose a common denominator first
Imagine one panel reports amounts for two capsules and another reports them for three. The larger serving may show more ingredient mass partly because it includes more capsules. Before drawing any conclusion, decide whether the question is about one facts serving or one capsule, and preserve that choice across the comparison.
Neither denominator is inherently the right medical choice. A facts serving gives a direct transcription of the label. A per-capsule amount may clarify packaging claims. The amount translator offers both for records where the capsule count is established, but it does not create a daily-frequency setting or suggest how many to take.
Walk through NOW without changing the instructions
NOW’s facts declare three capsules per serving, with 1.5g psyllium and 1.1g dietary fiber. Dividing by three yields 0.5g psyllium per capsule and approximately 0.367g dietary fiber per capsule. Multiplying those gram values by 1,000 expresses them in milligrams.
The repeated decimal for dietary fiber comes from dividing a rounded declaration. Reporting approximately 367mg is a calculation from the label, not a claim that every capsule contains a laboratory-verified 366.666mg. The NOW review also records a separate soluble and insoluble breakdown without adding those components a second time to the total.
The suggested usage on that page describes multiple daily administrations. A tool showing a facts serving cannot therefore label it automatically as “one day.” We retain the word serving wherever that is the denominator actually used.
Matching Solgar amounts still need their basis
The US Solgar panel gives 1,000mg psyllium and 1g dietary fiber for two vegetable capsules. Each divided figure is 500mg, or 0.5g, per capsule. Those calculations use two separately declared fields. We are not deriving fiber content from ingredient weight alone.
The manufacturer lists a 200-count bottle. Dividing that count by two gives 100 facts servings as an arithmetic description of the container. A personal supply period still depends on the applicable instructions and the actual product. The Solgar file keeps that qualification beside the count rather than quietly turning every serving into a day.
Full House demonstrates the limit of conversion
Full House’s label shows two capsules with a 1,525mg proprietary blend. Dividing by two gives a calculated 762.5mg blend amount per capsule. Converting that to 0.7625g changes only the unit. It does not disclose separate dietary fiber, glucomannan or psyllium amounts.
The blend-weight article explains why categories cannot be exchanged in the middle of the calculation. Our tool deliberately keeps Full House’s dietary fiber and soluble-fiber fields unavailable. An unknown starting value stays unknown after division; it does not become zero or acquire a plausible estimate from a competitor.
Sometimes the denominator is the missing fact
The Metamucil label image in this edition includes a readable statement of 1.8g soluble fiber per serving. The facts-serving capsule count is not sufficiently legible in the curved image. Without a reliably established denominator, this desk does not calculate a per-capsule amount for that record.
The Metamucil review also reports that the page’s usage directions vary with purpose. We do not choose one of those instructions and silently treat it as the obscured facts-serving count. A complete matching label is the appropriate way to resolve a label question.
Unit conversion does not change the amount
One gram equals 1,000 milligrams. A value displayed as 1.1g and another displayed as 1,100mg are numerically equivalent. A longer milligram number is not inherently stronger. Always check both the unit and the denominator before reacting to the size of the digits.
Our translator retains source links and shows the original product context beside the result. If a label was rounded, the per-capsule output is approximate. It intentionally avoids claims about absorption, symptom relief or tolerability, because simple mass arithmetic establishes none of those outcomes.
The percentage column has its own rules
FDA’s Daily Value explanation describes the relationship between a serving and a reference daily amount. It does not turn the Supplement Facts serving into a required daily dose. Nor does it tell a reader to reach a reference percentage entirely through capsules.
This distinction becomes especially important when a product’s suggested use allows different frequencies. A printed %DV applies to the stated facts serving. Any discussion of daily intake belongs in the wider context of food, other supplements and individual circumstances, not a calculator that only knows four labels.
Use the calculation for the question it answers
For a price comparison, label a quotient “cost per facts serving” if that is what was divided. For a quantity comparison, name the ingredient or nutrient. For a health decision, take the current label and specific question to a qualified professional. The price guide and four-product comparison apply this same discipline without implying that the biggest number wins.
